Make use of an online SAT prep course that offers last-moment online preparation courses for the SAT, which combines 24-hour access with targeted training on the critical concepts and strategies needed to maximize your history in the minimum measure of time. if acing the ISEE/SSAT exam and acquiring into a individual or independent school is important to you and your child then I suggest you absorb every single word on SSAT ISEE test prep. Select an area of interest and start exploring such as GMAT, LSAT, SAT, SSAT, ISEE, MCAT, and other prep courses.

Students who demonstrate good study skills are usually very well organized. Putting things in order is often the key to studying hard and doing well. One of the first things you should do when sitting down to study is make a note of the unlike things you need to learn or complete. Next, itemize these tasks according to date for the list. There will be things that are urgent and due soon, non-urgent and due soon, things that are urgent and due afterward, and due later and not so urgent. Prioritize by fitting in the things that fit into the first group first Make a calendar and a list of when things are due, and work your way through them. Organize your tasks so you do what is priority first.

There are a number of important study skills including realizing important information, and to retain it. When you’re reading a book chapter or an article, do so with a notepad by you and a highlighter at hand. Set up a notation scheme. For example, double underline definitions, and circle key phrases. You can put a triangle next to useful examples. Having a notation scheme can be very useful for organizing your notes and for seeing which bits of information are relevant to your studying needs. You should always make notes as you study, too, particularly if there are things that confuse you. For clarification one can always go back to a point later for more help.

Another of the more useful study skills is the use of mnemonics. Mnemonics are things that help you remember important pieces of information. Mnemonics often take the form of world play or acronyms, where each letter of a word stands for something important. However, they can also be songs, rhythms, rhymes, or anything that helps you remember things. Mnemonics can be very effective for helping you recall complex lists, equations, or concepts. Make up your own wordplay, or look online for a mnemonic generator. These will help you generate mnemonics to fit certain phrases or lists that you want to remember. To score high, don’t neglect to use SAT study guides.

For another well regarded good study skills is to ensure that you are completely focused on one task for a set period of time. Most people can only concentrate for half an hour or so, so make the most of this half hour. Turn off any distractions such as the TV or the internet, and devote yourself completely to your study for this time. After you finish what you have to do, you can take a break before getting back to work.

Get the top SAT prep courses and get ready for top scores and higher status. Grab hold of and learn critical concepts and learn strategies to excel. Also find GMAT study material for practice questions and targeted training and completely know the key elements, topics and material so you can score higher.

The SAT Test is an admissions tests that is utilized by many U.S. colleges and universities. The official name of the test is the SAT Reasoning test. The exam serves a similar purpose to the ACT in that they are both used in the process of admissions. The admissions process will also evaluate high school grades and rank, outside activities, interviews and recommendations.

The exam is intended to measure a students’ knowledge of the core areas of reading, writing and mathematics. High school juniors and seniors typically take the SAT. Test scores range from 200 to 800 for each of the sections. There are seven test tates for the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Territories.

SAT Test Format

The exam is made up of 10 sections. The first section is a 25 minute essay. Sections 2 through 7 are 25-minute sections. Sections 8 and 9 are 20 minute sections and section 10 is a 10 minute multiple choice writing section.

SAT Scores

Your SAT Scores are comprised of three items: your score, your percentile, and your score range. Each of the three main sections (critical reading, math, and writing) is scored on a scale of 200-800. Additionally, you will receive subscores for the essay (scale of 2-12) and multiple choice writing questions (scale of 20-80).

A raw score is determined based on your answers. You are given one point for each correct answer. Additionally, you are deducted one point for each incorrect answer. The raw scores are then used to create a scaled score in the range of 200 to 800. The scaled scores are used to account for the variations between different versions of the test.

Another component of your scores is your score range. If you took the test multiple times, your scores should fall in your “score range”. The score range is intended to assess your real performance on the exam.

The best way to understand your scores is by comparing them to other students and seeing what your preferred colleges require. For example, if you scored a 580 on your SAT Critical Reading score, this implies that your percentile score is 75 (i.e., you scored better than 75% of the other students who took the test). For the most recent graduating class, the average (mean) SAT Scores were 502 for Critical Reading, 515 for Math and 494 for Writing.

To do well on the SAT Test, it’s important that you study smart – not hard! To study smart, it is best to:

* Study for the SAT when you find yourself the most alert

* Determine what’s on the exam

* Look at the SAT topics that you don’t know

* Develop a flexible study schedule

Among the best ways to study smart for the exam is to make use of practice tests. Confidence is acquired by continually practicing for the SAT exam. To make the most out of practice exams, try some of these approaches:

* Understand your score report so that you’ll know what questions you got wrong

* Make sure to set a time limit when you take your practice SAT exams – this will help you keep a good pace on the actual exam

* Focus on a single portion of the examination at a time

You do not have to spend a lot of money for SAT practice exams – you can find plenty of free SAT Practice tests to get you going.

A 2-year or a 4-year school? College or university? State school or private? The buzz of questions and decisions can make any high school junior feel lost and confused. To top it off, the choice to go on to college comes with the dreaded task of taking the Scholastic Aptitude Test; The S.A.T. The most popular time to take the S.A.T is in the spring of your junior year in high school and many find it helpful to take more than 1 official S.A.T to ensure the best possible score reported to colleges. The S.A.T is a long-standing test and thankfully, there are many tips and tricks to prepare you for success on the S.A.T.

First and foremost, it is important to understand what the S.A.T is, exactly. The Scholastic Aptitude Test is a measure of your high school knowledge and ability that is used to predict your success in post-secondary education. The S.A.T is broken into three sections: Math, Verbal and Writing. These three sections test your knowledge through a series of timed, multiple choice sections and one essay. The test, in its entirety is three hours long and is often given at a local high school. You cannot “fail” the S.A.T because the grade given is on a scale of 200-800 and the points earned by correct answers; a perfect score on the S.A.T would result in an 800 on each of the three sections, for a total of 2400. You must sign up for exam dates and locations ahead of time. Your school’s guidance department is more than equipped to help you register correctly.

After you sign up, there is a considerable amount of practice that should go into preparing yourself for the S.A.T. Thankfully, many years of the test have led to some great discoveries on the best tips and tricks.

Materials are crucial: dead calculator batteries or dull pencil erasers can really stress you out! Make sure you have a reliable working calculator, plenty of number 2 pencils in good condition and, for studying purposes, a dictionary.

It’s amazing what an internet search for “S.A.T review material” will yield you! Do some searching to find the best review books, study guides, vocabulary lists, etc. that will work best with your learning style.

Practice, practice, practice! By practicing with old test questions, students become familiar with wording of questions and choices and become comfortable with the timing and pacing of the test. It is best to take as many practice tests as possible.

There is no way to “cram” for the S.A.T. Familiarity and practice take time, so allow yourself an ample amount of study time over a period of weeks and/or months.

Allow yourself some breathing room. You will not be listening to your IPod, watching Jeopardy and eating dinner during your exam, so it is probably not best to study this way. Make sure you have a quiet, well-lit place to focus and mimic, as closely as possible, the way the test will be on the real day.

While many of you will find it easy to commit time and studying to preparing for the S.A.T, many will find it hard to be focused and committed in the way they should. Luckily, there are many options for those looking for a more structured study environment. Many private companies, and some public school systems, offer formal S.A.T prep courses. These courses meet at the same time each week, usually devoting an hour to an hour and a half to each portion of the exam-Math and Verbal/Writing. The number of students in a class can range anywhere from 5-20 and the setting is more of a tutoring session than a teaching skills environment. Your S.A.T teacher will supplement your skills from English or Math with tips and tricks to using those skills on the S.A.T. In a formal S.A.T prep class, you will take many practice exams and mimic the testing environment often. This setting may work for some students as they have the opportunity to listen to others questions and concerns and voice their own.

However, study habits are a very individual taste, and those looking to sign up for an S.A.T prep course should know that there are some major decisions at hand. First, can you commit yourself to the allotted time, each week, for the given amount of weeks? Missing 1 or 2 sessions will only put you behind and there is not usually time for catch-up. Second, are you willing to put in a good amount of outside effort into homework assignment and practice tests? S.A.T prep courses are based heavily on your outside study habits and completion sections of the test as you move through the sessions. Lastly, consider the financial obligations. Many of the S.A.T prep courses are offered by private companies and can run anywhere from 200.00 to 600.00 dollars, which may or may not include materials such as a review book and vocabulary guide. Considering these things will help you to make the right decision when it comes to preparing for the S.A.T

There are many tips, tricks and wisdom about how to do well on the S.A.T. These things will lead you to learn the best ways for you to prepare for the S.A.T, but the preparation and studying is up to you. Putting time and effort into knowing the ins and outs of the S.A.T will go far beyond the day of the test; success on the S.A.T will open opportunities for scholarships, college acceptance and set you apart from other candidates. Make the best decision and do the best you can; prepare for success on the S.A.T.

When time comes for high school students to take their SAT, they are often under continuous pressure from all sides. Their parents expect them to do well on these tests, as their future depends a great deal on where they go to college. We all know though that their best may not always be enough and that there’s always tons of pressure from other competitive students. Even though the SAT assesses each individual’s ability to analyze and solve problems and his or her academic skills for college, in the end it still comes down to how well you’ve done compared to the other students in your high school. Furthermore, there’s the pressure that comes from the student’s ambition to do well on the tests while pleasing everyone, including parents and teachers. Under these circumstances, there is no wonder that more and more anxiety and depression related illnesses are reported each year among teenagers. The struggle to achieve perfection can sometimes have negative consequences. No one is denying that success is critical at certain moments in a person’s life, and the SAT is one of those times when everything has to go well. However, student ambition can be channeled through healthy and productive ways, without having to be faced with anxiety problems related to college admissions. For most students, the somewhat lengthy road to getting into college or university, and ultimately the road to academic success starts with the SAT (Scholastic Assessment test or Scholastic Aptitude Test). As has been said before, the SAT, which is developed by the College Board, assesses the skills that students have learned in high school and will need in college. In other words, much of the work that students have put in during high school years is reflected in their SAT scores. The SAT scores are all the more important with the increased selectiveness of universities and colleges, as a result of the increasing number of applicants each year.

So, what can be done to maximize your SAT scores? Having acknowledged the importance of scoring high in the SAT, many students choose a good SAT preparation course to help them make the most of this testing experience that their future as college students depends so much on. How can SAT prep help future college applicants? First, it contributes significantly to the reduction of test-related anxieties, allowing students to focus and perform better. Second, fear of the unknown is a major cause of poor performance in tests, sometimes even greater than the lack of thorough study and preparation for the test. Based on this fact, these test prep classes focus on allowing students to gain considerable knowledge of testing methods. In other words, SAT prep courses will show students exactly what to expect of the test, allowing them to be more relaxed and confident. Test prep courses are also an excellent opportunity for students to identify any weak points that they may have and understand specific topics thoroughly.

The bottom line is that the SAT prep courses help students a great deal. Students who attend such classes and boot camps will see how they manage to eliminate the fear of an unknown test, relax, and strengthen their knowledge of topics to be tested. These test prep classes will give students confidence, raise their scores and enable them to get into more selective colleges.

For many students, the SAT exam is the most important test of their high school careers. The new SAT is a three-hour test that determines you potential for future academic success. While some colleges consider high school academic performance and extracurricular activities as important as your score in standardized tests, most other colleges consider the SAT/ACT scores as one of the key factors in the admissions process. In order to apply for admission, you need to either take SAT or ACT test depending upon the college you are applying to and its geographical location. The fact that you need a good SAT or ACT score to get admission in a reputed college is irrefutably true.

Before you start with your SAT preparation, there are a few important things you must know. You should also understand and avoid the most common mistakes with respect to SAT test which are frequently made by uninformed students/parents. In the following paragraphs we outline important strategies needed for effective SAT preparation. Without a clear direction, the SAT preparation may turn out to be sloppy and haphazard resulting in disappointing results. Therefore the more careful you are in the early stages of your preparation; the better you would be with the end results.

GETTING STARTED WITH SAT: THE OFFICIAL STORY

An informed approach to SAT preparation begins with checking the College Board’s website (http://www.collegeboard.com) for testing dates, locations and registration procedures. Spend a good amount of time checking the format and content of the test. Read the tips and strategies recommended by the people who design and administer the test

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PREPARATION MATERIAL & SUPPORT

After acquiring preliminary information about SAT, you should proceed to assemble the right quality of study material for the SAT exam. While there is a lot of support available to prepare for the SAT test, your selection will largely depend on access to those resources and your comfort level with different modes of preparation.

You should select textbooks after consulting individuals who have already taken the SAT test in recent past. Those familiar with new trends can guide you through and help make a good choice of study materials among those available for SAT preparation.

You may also opt for support in the form of SAT classroom review courses or contact a private tutor. However, classroom courses and professional help from tutors may prove to be very costly.

The good news is that you can now think of enrolling in new online audio-visual courses for test preparation. New online courses have produced encouraging results. These methods of online preparation are not only equivalent to classroom courses and private tutors, but also come at a fraction of their costs. Online SAT preparation courses are rapidly gaining popularity among students across the globe because of their versatility and effectiveness.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTS: THE STARTING POINT

A diagnostic test should be the starting point of your preparation, as it will give you a better idea of your strengths and weaknesses. After gaining a good familiarity with the SAT structure, and identification of strengths/weaknesses, set your goals and design a study plan that best fits your situation. Please note that these first two steps should be completed as quickly as possible in order to allow the maximum time for the actual SAT preparation.

FORMING YOUR OWN ‘GANG’

Competitive environments nurture talents. Many students make the mistake of not teaming up with colleagues. These students may start up very enthusiastically only to loose their momentum after a few weeks into preparation. Having a good study group provides the much needed instrumental and moral support. A healthy and supportive competitive environment aids good preparation by helping you decide what resources to use and learn from others accomplishments and mistakes. However, one must realise that a good ‘gang’ may only help one so far, the actual work has to be done by the student himself.

PRACTISE THE WAY YOU WANT TO PERFORM

Your study should replicate as much as possible the conditions of the actual SAT test. Take numerous practice tests, and try doing as many sections at once as you would on the day of actual test. The more your SAT preparation resembles the actual test, the more comfortable you will be when you take the real test. The cliché in sports/arts that “the way you practice is the way you perform” is more than true for SAT preparation.

Set demanding but reasonable goals for yourself and give yourself that extra push which makes the distinction between a good SAT score and a great SAT score. Jumps start your academic career with a bang!

Best of luck !
